Getting to Know Electronic Drums

By: Melissa Domotor

Similar to your rock band drums, electronic drums quite serve the same purpose as the one that you use in your favourite game. It serves the same purpose of creating percussive sounds with the power of electrical wiring.

Similar to your acoustic percussions, the drum set is complete with high hats, snare, kick, bass drum, toms, and cymbals. There are different forms of electronic drums. There are sets that are positioned like your classic acoustic percussion set having the bass drum and kick at the bottom, snare drum on the left, toms on the front and side cymbals slightly tilted. This kind of set up builds a familiar form for its users, while the other type is a lateral drum set having the drum pads just beside each other. There are also drum sets that are solely for percussion having deeper and fuller sounds.

The main attraction of this kind of electric drum set is that it has a sleek design. The sound is controlled and is changeable depending on the type of music that you are using it with. Since these drum sets usually come with a packaged module, the type can be switched into different genres in order to cater to the desired sound. Ideally, these drum sets are fit for jazz music since the sounds produced are fuller and precise.

The advantage of this drum set is that it functions exactly like an actual acoustic set. The different parts work the same way. Even the high hat creates the open and closed sound by stepping on its own foot controller.   It is also ideal for beginners because of its easier feel as it sounds without adding too much pressure on the drum pads. Also the sound is not that scattered, making it friendly for errors made by beginners.

In order to get to know more about these drum sets, it is best to do your homework and research online. Visit various websites and blogs. These websites can take you around the different aspects of a good electronic drum kit and at the same time, give you a full guide in case you intend to purchase a kit. It also gives you a clearer understanding on how each beat is produced with this kind of equipment. You can also check out some drum samples in this website. There are pictures of the drums itself and videos if you are very particular upon viewing the product first.
